CTMH Technique Blog Hop - Terrific Tags

Tags are Terrific! Many many years ago, scrapbookers and stampers started making creative use of all kinds of tags--Manila mailing tags and metal-rimmed key tags were and remain incredibly popular because they are so very versatile.

Welcome to the October edition of the CTMH Technique Blog Hop featuring Terrific Tags!

You arrived from Belinda McLane's Fun-damentally Artsy Blog. Thanks for continuing along the Hop. (If you encounter a broken link or get lost along the way somehow, a complete list of participating blogs is located on Melissa Robinson's blog here.)

Close to my Heart offers a standard tag die set that I consider a basic scrapping necessity.
See it HERE! Tags are the framework for many awesome creations...tags are also an excellent and yet inexpensive way to add loads of texture to a page. By threading strings through the tag holes and tying them together, I was able to bring in a little bit more of the black embellishments as well as add that extra layer of textile that gives an otherwise flat page some lift.

My project for this Hop is a tag-rich Scrapbook page.

I cut a ton of tags for this project and ended up using them as a background for this picture. To be honest, I'm not finished with this layout. This is not my normal MO for a layout because it's one I want to frame and hang on the wall in my studio. Ordinarily, I'm all about the title and the story. I rarely make a page without a huge title and abundant journaling but There's so much story that goes with this photo and my relationship with the girl (my sister), I'm going to have to do the journaling elsewhere--likely on the back of the page.

I've decided to hang 8 new layouts in my scrap space for decor...rather than putting them into an album. That's a work in progress for sure.

Sometimes I have to live with a page for a little while before I know how to complete it...such is the case with this one. Art requires patience, right.

Just a technical note--this was the first time I have tried stamping directly onto a photo and yes, now I am hooked! Boy, was that nerve-wracking. (I used Momento Tuxedo Black ink this time and you can see the results.)

That stamp is from the Close to my Heart Stronger Together Stamp Set available here.

You next stop on the Hop is a visit to Annemarie Julian's Scrap n Roll blog. Tell Ms. Annemarie hello for me!

Hope your Sunday is filled with scrappy creative things...and a few tags along the way!

Until we meet again,
Sarah
